Custom Fabrication and Hot Rod Work in Missoula, MT

Most general repair shops send fabrication work somewhere else. We do it here. That covers hot rod and custom builds, parts that have to be made because they can no longer be bought, and repairs on vehicles where nothing is quite standard anymore.

It's also why we're comfortable with the odd problems that show up on everyday vehicles. The skills that go into a custom build are the same ones that sort out a strange repair on a daily driver.

What this covers

  • Hot rod and custom builds.
  • Mounts, brackets, and other parts made to fit when an engine or drivetrain goes somewhere it was never meant to.
  • One off parts that are no longer available.
  • Custom exhaust.
  • Chassis and suspension work on project vehicles.
  • Repairs on older vehicles where nothing is quite standard anymore.
  • Modifications that need to be built rather than bolted on.

How a project works

Fabrication starts with a conversation about what you want to end up with and how you plan to use the vehicle. A weekend cruiser, a street car that sees real miles, and a dedicated build all call for different choices.

From there we figure out what can be built, what should be bought, and how it all has to fit the rest of the vehicle. We'd rather tell you a part is worth buying than build something just because we can.

A few things are worth sorting out before any metal gets cut: how much of the vehicle has already been done and by whom, which parts you already have on hand, and where you want the money to go first. Photos, part numbers, and any receipts from earlier work help a lot.

Parts we make for a street car have to live with heat, vibration, and Montana roads, not just look right on the lift. We build them with that in mind, and we check clearances for exhaust, steering, and suspension travel before calling anything done.

The same rule we use for repairs applies here. Before work goes ahead, we show you what we found and what we plan to do, so there are no surprises when you see the vehicle. If a project turns up something unexpected partway through, like rust hiding under old work, you hear about it before we change the plan.

What comes through the shop

Our videos show a lot of what we work on: '55 Chevys running boost, a 1968 Chevelle with a 396 big block, Corvettes, AMC AMXs, Mustangs, turbocharged Harley-Davidson baggers, and a Kawasaki ZX-10R powered snow bike. The shop's own 2010 Camaro SS runs a 427 stroker with nitrous.

Older vehicles often need a little of both kinds of work, a repair here and a part that has to be made there, and we are set up for that.

If you have a project in mind, call and tell us about it. We'll give you a straight answer about whether it's something we can take on.

Custom Fabrication questions

Can you make a part that isn't available anymore?

Often, yes. Brackets, mounts, and similar parts can usually be fabricated. Call us and describe what you need, and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes more sense to build it or keep hunting for one.

Do you do custom exhaust?

Yes. Custom exhaust is part of our fabrication work.

How do I get started on a project?

Call the shop and tell us what you have and what you want to end up with. From there we can talk about what it will take.

How long does a custom project take?

It depends on the scope of the project and how quickly parts arrive. We'll give you an honest idea once we know what you want to do.

We show you before we fix it

Before any work starts, we walk you into the shop and show you what we found. If something can wait, we'll tell you.
